Origin Energy conducted research with 1,500 employees to discover “What do employees value in 2024?”The survey wanted to understand what matters most to people in the workplace and what factor’s influence their decisions to stay or switch jobs.
The research found:
-
- 72% of employees ranked remuneration and benefits as their main drivers for retention
- 79% want their employers to support their financial and sustainability goals
- 1 in 2 employees want discounted products from other companies
With many employers still recovering economically from COVID-19 and with rising costs, employers are looking for cost effective ways to retain staff and provide perks that are attractive.
The second point addresses the issue of employee’s financial and sustainability goals. Financial Mappers LITE is an enterprise product designed to cost the employer as little as $20 per employee. Here the employer gives employees the option to register for Financial Mappers Lite. The initial package is for a 5-year Financial Plan; however, the employee then has the option to upgrade the software so they can make plans of up to 50 years long. After the first year, the employee has the option to renew either the Lite or Full Version of Financial Mappers. The Employer does not have access to the employee’s account.
The third point is that employees want access to discounted products. The employer can contact Financial Mappers and make arrangements for staff to receive a 20% discount on the purchase of Financial Mappers. There is no cost to the employer.
Back in 2020, Financial Mappers wrote an article “Employers remove financial stress for your staff and see the benefits”. The most significant point of the article was, that it was estimated that in America financial stress causes a productivity loss of $1,900 USA per employee. This financial loss to the employer is caused by the inability to focus on work, lower productivity, and increased absenteeism.
Empowering employees to have the skills to manage their finances will have flow-through effects to the workplace.
